A Releasing Sigh

Full Moon
August 9, 2006
16 Aquarius 44′

Pour some good energy onto whatever is bugging you. Do it now as you read this. See yourself holding a vase of healing balm and pouring it over the situation. Don’t frown. Don’t fold in. Don’t act as if it’s tough. If you are reading this, you are safe. Expand that safety (instead of expanding and magnifying the problem). Breathe. When you breathe you slow down. You slow down your anxiety and create the condition for clarity, resolution, and poised action. Remember that Full Moons always mean that the Moon is 180 degrees from, or opposite the Sun. This Sun in Leo conjuncts Saturn while the Moon conjuncts Neptune. So Saturn and Neptune are opposed one another too. What this means is that reality, Saturn, is either balancing or conflicting with the intangible world—Neptune. Conditions contrast with dreams. War conflicts with peace. The hard facts make hope and faith seem useless and foolish. We have this big ugly stuff happening between Israel and Lebanon. We got war and more war and war crimes committed by youthful soldiers and costly gas. To name a few of the current problems, we have global warming and barely living wages for too many people. Those of us who are sworn to be light-bearers may be tempted to give it up to the devil, cynicism. How is it that we are more persuaded by the cynic? Oh yeah, appearances. The bad and the ugly never seem to stop. Appearances, manifestations, the fountains of our vision, are compelling, and negative appearances are especially riveting, turning us into salt like Lot’s wife.

The devil takes many forms. It can be your mother or father or spouse or even your child. It can be your teacher, your boss, your company, the government, the society. We create this Devil—this not-God, no good, ever stalking, ever-gaining, Devil. Our job, if we choose to accept it, is to give ourselves the message that we are not helpless against the appearance of rampant injustice and other problems in the world, because to do so would make us the cards the “devil” adds to his hand to play to “his” advantage.

No, devil. I ain’t scared of you. You’re not real. I create you. No, no big oil, corrupt government. No, no rising prices, preying on consumers. No, no war. Ain’t scared of you. No, no global warming, ain’t scared of you because fear freezes.

This is the start we can all make. We can stop being easy pickings for those who use fear to control, and those who might manufacture that fear (Saturn) like the Wiz in the Land of Oz (Neptune).

Many years ago when I still lived in Brooklyn, New York, I was visiting Prospect Park. As I sat on the bench I could hear dogs barking in the distance, and so could a little boy on a tricycle a few feet from the place I sat. The boy was so panicked, that try as he might, he could not get his foot to engage the petal. His foot slipped in front of it, to the side of it, to the back of it, and as desperate as he was to make his escape, he was unsuccessful, until the dogs, three of them on leashes, pulling their owner, barking, but friendly, appeared and disappeared. Then it was an easy matter. His foot found the petal and off he went. This is how you might feel about something now—panicked, pushed, worried, slipping off a slick slope, and worried sick. (Mars in Virgo opposing Uranus.)

What you need is a change of inner scenery. You are using your imagination to picture all the things you don’t want. When you react to the dark images in your head, your cells coil and choke. You spin and sputter and malfunction, bumping your toes or twisting your ankle.

Say it with me one time, Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Let it be a releasing sigh. Let go and let God. Tune into God, into good, into success, into peace in the Middle East and peace in your middle ear.
