You Want Health

New Moon
August 23, 2006
0 Virgo 31′

Please pull up a chair and an ear. The New Moon at zero degrees Virgo bids us to speak of work, to wipe the slate clean, to start all over again.
Most people, as far as I can tell, go to their jobs less than willingly. Monday is blue, Friday is, “Thank God.”

If we don’t change our thinking and speaking relative to work, we will never change the suffering, dull and boring aspects of it.

Astrologers refer to Sun sign astrology, which is actually the basis of our interpretation about the signs. Sun sign astrology puts the sign under observation as the sign rising in the East and the other 11 signs follow it. The 12 signs always stay in the same order. Thus for each sign, a different sign rules each house. Aries rising is where we derive our basic interpretations and this is referred to as the natural zodiac.
When Virgo is rising, Libra is on the second house cusp. The second house is about money, and Libra is about balance and relationship. So you might say that financial matters for Virgo revolve around partnership. The partner may be relied upon for Virgo’s own assets. You might also say that if Virgo’s finances get out of whack, their peace and equilibrium wobbles or swings.

Scorpio is on Virgo’s third house. Scorpio is about deep emotions, going through changes, secrets and other people’s money and other resources. Scorpio is about psychology and secrets. So Virgo thinks (third house) deeply, and secretly. Virgo’s mind is a transformer. The work mind transforms, brings order out of chaos every day. The healthy functioning mind is a transformer, is always processing for change and processing emotional and psychic information. We might also say that the idea that we have about work is about other people’s resources. We are hooked to the owner of our business for our survival and our thinking in regard to work takes this into consideration. Thinking around work is always connected with finances. At work we are often dealing with secrets, because the conformity required by a job cultivates secrets about your “personal” life. The necessity for you to keep your job makes you tend to say less than you are thinking.

But I want to skip on the Virgo’s 6th house, because this is the house of work. Guess what sign is on Virgo’s 6th? Aquarius! Why an exclamation point? Because Aquarius is the sign of freedom and iconoclasm and most of us don’t consider work a place where we are free to be who we really are. We have a set time to be there and (often) set tasks.

Maybe we need some major adjustments and reorientation with the way we look at work. My idea here is that if Virgo rules the concept of work and health, then we should go to Virgo and see what’s on her house of work and health. Similarly, if Taurus rules personal resources, we should look to Taurus’ second house to see what personal resources is about to her.

Maybe Aquarius on the cusp of Virgo’s work means aid and service freely given. Even though you are being paid, you let your offering be free, open, without strings. (Bet this is a good way to be able to walk away when the time comes.) Maybe Aquarius on the 6th house means service with a unique twist. Maybe it means to work and serve with innovation. Maybe it says technology and work harmonize beautifully. What about reinventing the way you serve? Perhaps it means that you should discover what it is that you can bring to the way you do your work, or the way you do service.

Many of us are having pangs and concerns about where we are not. Some of us have been trying to use New Age Technology to have what we want to have, but still find our manifestations fall short. Some of us are trying to be millionaires, or tried and given up. Some of us have just wanted to be top something or other “by this time” and, well, we’re hardly being noticed, or we are being noticed for the wrong reasons.

Recently the Inner Voice tapped me on the shoulder and said, “Hey. You don’t even know what it is that you want.” There is so much around us influencing us to want this or that, to have more square footage, to settle for less square footage, to want more because it costs more to live. The Inner Voice reminded me that I wanted health, another component of Virgo and the 6th house. Once you’ve got a healthy relationship with other people and your environment, and the Kingdom, you can have what you need without paying too much money or humanity. (Mercury, ruler of Virgo, in the 12th, conjunct Saturn, conjunct Venus, oppose Neptune in Aquarius, square Jupiter in Scorpio.)

Maybe what you’re trying to put together is not you at all. Maybe what will make you a happy camper is something simpler, something attainable if you weren’t telling yourself the wrong story. (Uranus in Pisces) Maybe it is not money that is holding you back after all, nor is it the lack of love. (Venus inconjunct Uranus) How will you know? Meditate. Get into a posture, if this is your way, but basically, meditation is sustained calm, focused consciousness, and the prize is to be there every day in every way, even while paying attention, no matter what is going on around you.

In the Tarot Key associated with meditation, we have a picture of a naked woman with long flowing hair, on a plain with only a mountain and a tree with a red Ibis upon it. Her eyes are closed. She pours water from a vase in each hand, on one knee with one foot upon the water. Her legs for a 90 degree angle. It is a peaceful scene. Bright stars blaze behind her. It is twilight. The brightest star of all is called the quintessence. This Tarot Key is also associated with Aquarius, Virgo’s 6th house.

Let your work this month be asking for your work. Ask calmly and meditatively, sure that it will come, though it may not come in your session. Ask how you might use your life in service to the Unity of life, or any phrasing that better suits you. What is your quintessential offering, the joint for you?

It is really good to select a daily asking hour. Some say the morning is best. I found the morning to be my natural time. Sit at a table with a pen. Breathe and settle down. Get peaceful. Peace passes understanding. When you are too excited and agitated, you cannot hear. But if a line should ring in your ear at any hour, stop and write it down. Have a book for the collection of these thoughts. When you write down that one thought, you might be surprised that another follows, and another and another, until you have a stream that finishes of its own accord. This is a form of meditation.
