You are a citizen of this good earth not a subject, not a slave. You are free as long as you are choosing your own discipline and following your own inner instruction. To forego discipline is to forego freedom. Discipline to your inner instructor keeps you in the way and on the path through the maze of life to your best self and a brighter day.
Please note: I did not say you have to listen to your momma, boss police, preacher, or any outer authority. You have to listen to your inner instruction, your private tutor. If you listened to yours and I listened to mine if we were working together on a project, we would start to be a system of confirmation and adjustment that would allow us to parent our project and solve the puzzles that come up.
If two of us who agreed and worked together by listening to our own inner instruction, found two more who did likewise, and so on, and so on, we would be finding ourselves building a world. (North Node in Pisces)
As a matter of fact, there are those who are building the world as we read, and we might even be numbered among them, though we know it not. Those who consciously build are less and less disturbed by the disturbing things that go on. Their eyes see a different picture and their ears are attuned to a different broadcast, and they are following it home.
There is a stream of consciousness that flows together as one stream. Your true work is to find the current that will make you a citizen, the one that will make you strong and effective and able to lead because you are able to bond with others for working purposes. We might call this the up stream. The other current is the one that makes you a subject, that ultimately accounts for the perilously high cost of emotional, physical and spiritual living on this planet.

“A vision without a task is but a dream. A task without a vision is drudgery.” So says the inscription on a church in Sussex, England. Part of being a citizen is not feeling like a drudge. Your life has a purpose and you are purposeful and you are successful because you are always moving forward. Setbacks and failures are just interesting points in your journey and you step up close and brave to see what they have to offer you.
No matter what sign you are, you have a Pisces area (house) and a Virgo area (house). Each of us is composed of all 12 signs and 12 houses and planets and asteroids. Your Pisces-Virgo polarity is being vigorously stimulated now. You might say the Pisces part is about the vision, the feeling-driven dream that you wish with your soul to come true. The Virgo part of you is working toward the vision, unless you are fractured or fragmented and disconnected from the vision part of you. So many of us are. We are taught to dismiss the Pisces, visioning, imagining part. It is female (receptive). It is fragile. It is delusional. It is just your imagination. It is when we are disconnected from a vision for our lives, that work becomes drudgery.
One of the most important things I have learned in my own reach for self-mastery, is that the work and the vision don’t always have an obvious connection. I’ve learned that if you do what you love, the money will follow; you will provide for yourself and be provided for, but the money does not always follow from the thing that you love. I have learned that first you must do what you love, whether it gives back to you in cash or not. If you don’t do what you love, how are you going to do work that you love? Learn to give your love without the cash condition, and you will learn to give your love whenever and wherever and however you can. This giving of love will feed, stir, enliven you, and give your life meaning.
If you find a way to do what you love, then you can do the less than ultra-creative, ultra-stimulating work. Sometimes this less than ideal work funds the thing you love. It gives you the money to buy the paint and canvas or take the lessons or do the traveling. It keeps you going so that you can do the loving.
What are you living for? Have you got a dream? Have you got a song? Is life worthwhile? Is life vibrant and beautiful?
Dream, people, even if it’s a seemingly impossible dream. Dream especially where your aches and pains and chains are. (South Node in Virgo) They are not meant to bring you down. They are meant to say, “What’s wrong with this picture? You are free, so let’s get it looking like that! Let’s take a look at what is hurting and see that it is really trying to tell you that you are free.” (Sun & Uranus conjunct the North Node in Pisces) The pain is the point of departure.
Telling yourself the truth about the illness in your body or experience, may threaten to hurt, such as when you fearing the needle that delivers the healing medicine. It hurts at the turning point, the decision point, the will I let myself see this point. But as Washington Irving says in The Ghost of Sleepy Hollow, “Once you cross that bridge, my friends, the ghost is finished. His power ends.”
Liberation is ownership of the means to the end of whatever is getting you down. Consciousness is liberation. You may walk down a dark road for a while, but you will get to the other side. That’s a promise.
