Rise Again When it Rises
New Moon

19 Leo 51′
I was talking to a young friend about the paradox of control—we have it, but we don’t. Power works through us, not by us. We are instruments and centers of expression. Everything depends on us, yet we do nothing of ourselves. We are the mediators of a power that flows through us and out into our world.
You get control by recognizing that you are an instrument for the Most High God, and reminding yourself of it again and again until you do not forget. As an instrument, you have a hands-off policy. You keep your hands off and see what God puts your hands on. Then you do that. You don’t pull your hands off and say that the Devil made you give up, lose faith, doubt or be too afraid to keep on going.
Oh, and God works in mysterious ways. You’ve got to know that. You’ve got to trust that. So it’s okay to scratch your head and say, “God, What could you be thinking? I do not understand this at all.” Be bewildered, but trust that there is a beauty and harmony behind it all.
When you can make all things the work of the One Thing, you will get to see more and more of the beauty and the harmony. You will let the ugly pass by and the sordid slip away.
Yours is to know that you are the instrument of a Higher Power. At this juncture, you might not fully realize this. You might act as if you are the instrument of that which is really below you, in the physical world. You might think you are the pawn and that the wizard pulls the strings (and you are sure the wizard is not you). Or perhaps the string is being pulled by the wicked witch or the devil. Whoever or whatever it is, it’s not you. It’s never you. Yours is not the power.
If you are reading these words, most likely you know that you are an instrument. You know it intellectually. You know it sometimes and in some ways, and in and out and up and down, and oh, heck, you don’t know. You are baffled and bewildered.
It’s a game.
Let’s play.
Let’s take our most serious matters, our gravest of concerns, deepest sorrow, most worrisome or fearful thing, and make light of it. Do it now as you read these words. Take a deep and slow breath and take something that bothers you, that disturbs your rest and your peace and your openness and expectation of good things and make light of it. Shake yourself gently, Toss your shoulders and your head a little. Loosen up. Keep breathing in and out, slowly. Make a motion of your hands palms up near your chest, and briskly, but gently feather upward and outward whatever you perceive as problematic. Let your burdens become light. Close your eyes and be still. Close your eyes to the noise and the clamor of the world and the “sales” people who are waving at you to buy what they are selling. Now this could be your grandma or you momma, your dear friend, your spouse, your child. And make no mistake. They represent your fractured ideas contradicting themselves, calling you here and over there. You lack an anchor, a tether, a beginning place, a governing body of spirit, a governed body, a suitable instrument. Breathe. No harm. No foul. It’s all good. You are perfect. Any errors you might have made are richly tinted bits of transparencies through which a remarkable light shines. Your so-called errors comprise your perfection. Your grace with them will turn into gratitude for them.
Lighten up. Feel a light upon you. Imagine it is the light of the Sun, just the right healing warmth on a perfect weather early morning day. That light shines upon your problem and a voice comes out of that light that says, “Behold. I make all things new. Trust me. Look for me. Look for me today. See how I make my presence known.”
Perhaps you are persuaded that your luck is bad and your lot is short. But let me ask you. Why are you counting on things going bad and then acting offended when they do? Does this have to be the blueprint for tomorrow, just because you could count on it yesterday? If you think that bad luck is some kind of predictable thing you can count on, why not make a switch and expect good? You predict bad and you get it. Predict good for an experiment.
Maybe you want to tell me that I just don’t understand. You have nothing and no way. You would like to, but you just can’t play.
Follow the light. Just say to yourself, “I follow the light.” When you rise in the morning you are following the light of a new day and for this New Moon, expect a truly new day, as in era, as in new arc. Expect it by your thought, word and act.
When night comes, take a break, follow the Sun down to rise again when it rises.
The Astrology of the New Moon
For those who understand astrology, I have to share the visual with you. Mercury, Sun, Moon, Saturn and Venus are all in Leo and Venus is retrograde. Five planets of the seven that are visible to the naked eye are in one sign, all in a row, a force to be reckoned with. These are all opposed by Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius. If you can, you should do a bi-wheel and see where this Leo energy is operative in your chart, making you say, “I want it! I want it!”
Maybe at the same time you are taunting yourself. “You can’t have it. You are weak, deficient, a dreamer.” This is the Neptune in Aquarius. What is holding you back? Something you imagine. You and hundreds of thousands of others may be imagining the same weighty chains.
And the other part of you, spurred on by the presence of all that light and all that gold, is saying, “I want it. I want it still.”
If you were born between February 24, 1952 and July 4, 1952, the New Moon at 19 Leo is conjunct your Pluto in Leo opportuning breakthrough, realization and release. Listen for the music that breaks you out of the coffin of past conditioning so that you can function in another dimension. Realize that you are more than just you. Move to whatever is music to your ears. If it doesn’t have your beat, then don’t step to it.
