Love is Your Imagination

New Moon
October 10, 2007
17 Libra 30’

When you are at peace you do the natural thing. You seek the peace of others.

The opposite of peace is strife. Others seem to be the source of our strife, but the truth is that conflict with others comes from division and disconnection within us.

The basis of peace, balance, and harmony is serving or giving. We always seek beauty, fairness, justice, and equality. We seek rest from strife.

To serve, you determine the purpose of significant relationships—the good ones and the problematic ones. What are you there for? What can you do, offer, or give? What can you bring to the table? What do you need?

Virgo also rules health. Dis-ease in the body is disharmony in the body, and harmony is a Venus word, illustrating how closely the two signs are linked.

This suggests that giving, yielding, and serving are important ways to maintain health. When you are withholding and inflexible, it can show up in your health.

The cure for whatever ails you right now is love. It’s about the love you are. If you are love, you are able to give love. When you give love, you receive it. That is the law.

What’s love?

Let’s say for our purposes that love is having a good disposition. Hate is a bad disposition. Love negotiates. Hate blames. Love finds a way. Hate declares there is no way.

Love invests. Hate divests.

At the new moon solar eclipse of September 11th, we talked about conflict resolution, stressing that the problem is never really outside of us, but within. When divided within, we do not know how to get life to respond to us. At war, we make war. In fear, we lash out.

The last new moon was in Virgo, the sign of health. Ill health is being divided against ourselves. So divided, we are fractured, splintered and cut off, first from our true, healthy, authentic selves and then cut off from others. To the extent that we do not heal from our emotional wounds held in place by memory (represented by the Moon), we remain guarded, defensive and offensive.

How do you heal from your wounds?

We spoke of Saturn as the teacher of hard lessons. There is a lesson in your wounding experience. Did you get it? You didn’t if you are blaming, especially if you are flaming blame, full of fury and drama.

It is written. “Be still and know that I am God.” Be still enough to get the lesson. Don’t flail. Don’t cry out lamentations. Just be quiet. Listen. Don’t expect anything. Do it for a moment or two every once in a while, especially when you are racing in your own head, pushing or driving yourself. Be gentle with yourself.

Problems have solutions. Injustice will meet justice. Libra is represented by the scales of justice and rules the concept of relationships and the balancing act required to sustain and nurture them.

Venus rules Libra. Love gives and gets balance and cooperation. Love is the key.

But love at this point is only a word. The word turns some people on and some people off. To some people it means indecent humility. To others it means disappointment. But no matter how you slice it or dice it, cut it or carve it, love is what you need to know. You need to know it in a way that feels good in your body and fits into your world view. As my friend Wallace Wattles says, “The universe desires you to have everything you want to have. Nature is friendly to your plans. Everything is naturally for you.”

Love is illusive, some folk say.
But it is right in front of you. It is your clay.
It is the stuff that makes your way.
It is the stuff of every day.

Love is your imagination. And we all imagine. We all look upon the people and scenes of our lives and imagine what is happening. We make it up as we go along. That’s living. That is the role of Venus in our chart. We all have her whether we are female or male.

Instead of imagining things as they seem to be and repeating lack and insufficiency, why don’t you imagine things as you want them to be?

You might say that this is not easy and it is not. Inertia, however, is as easy as pie. Just don’t do anything. Don’t be anything. Don’t have any input. Don’t have any say. Take the world as it comes to you. Eat your humble pie.

If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you always got.

It will take practice. You have to retrain yourself to see, but you might as well start.

All things are possible when you are hooked up with the hookup. Nothing or no one can stand in your way when you know the real deal and it’s not a big deal. You simply handle life as it comes. You are always there where your life is, always working with it, mixing and shaping it. You are always making it a little better, sometimes seemingly magically because you have nature as an awesome ally. She does the work and carries the burden. She brings people and resources together and makes life worth living.

But know that you can’t fool Mother Nature. Just as much as she is on your side, she can’t give you what you don’t spell out.
