You Gotta be Zen

New Moon
February 24, 2009
6 Pisces 35’

It’s like playing a game with one hand behind your back. You play the game of relationship in such a way that the outcome is happy for you. However, you cannot dictate what the other person says or does. You can’t try to make someone love you, appreciate you, get out of the house, make some money, lose some weight, buck up, bulk up, back up or get a life.

You got to be a little Zen—a little chill, moving suavely and with great ingenuity as you hope to make this relationship thing pan out or come about. Hands off the manipulation of another. Use your free will. Remember that they have free will too. Yet, you cannot allow yourself to be unduly or inappropriately managed by another by abdicating your seat on your own throne.

What would you do if you weren’t afraid? What would you say? What chance would you take? Be transformed by the healing of your mind. Lock into that mental toughness that is also transparent and vulnerable. Pisces is a water sign, meaning it feels, as do all of the water signs. Cancer is active feeling. It wants to embrace. Scorpio water wants to be embraced, to be accepted, supportive and supported in a stable unchanging way Pisces water wants to feel inspired and capable of transcending negative feelings and experiences. Pisces want to feel deeply, touching that internal eternal stream that acts as a source of sustenance for the thirsty, wounded, weary and sick. Pisces is like the last hope.

The North Node, Jupiter, Mercury, Juno, Mars, Chiron, and Neptune are all in the sign Aquarius. That’s four planets, one “point” and two asteroids. We are all in need of some quiet time devoted to the purpose of inner contemplation for the sake of our emotional and physical health. One might literally go to the hospital or on a retreat, or away to think, or on a vision quest over interior terrain to find the answer to a certain question that might have always eluded one.

The last Lunations stated “The message of the North Node in Aquarius which is conjunct the Sun is that the world belongs to those who live fearlessly enough to be naked on the plain at twilight . . . The world belongs to those who ponder their lives and listen for the guidance of the inner, higher plane. The world belongs to those who do not go it alone, except to listen for the Lone Voice of the One.” We are still braving the relative darkness. We are on outer journeys to discern the answers to some of our lifelong quests for appreciation, acceptance, wealth, and love.

All those planets in Aquarius are in a 12th house relationship to Pisces.

“We are told that the opinion a person has of self is largely an image of his or her reflection in the consciousness of others. And that the individual’s estimate of self is what he or she believes to be society’s estimate. But of course, the idea works in a circle—society’s estimate of you is largely colored by your estimate of yourself. So, it would seem that the way in which the self is regarded by the self has the most to do with determining a person’s attitude toward the problems of life, and is a prime factor in the success or failure of one’s everyday living.”—Eric Butterworth.

In this new moon period you might suffer from how you are being perceived by others. You might feel unappreciated or misunderstood.

Since the other person simply serves to mirror you to yourself, what is your estimate of yourself? Do you appreciate and understand yourself? Do you have a low self-estimate? In The Four Agreements, Don Miguel says that everyone is a smoky mirror. I can see myself in others, but the vision is somewhat obscured by the smoky distortion. They don’t see me that clearly and so if I totally rely on their vision, I will see myself in a glass darkly. Conversely, another should not rely on me to reflect them clearly and accurately. They have to be in charge of that.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Beauty in the eye is a manifestation of seeing more clearly, and seeing more clearly is a manifestation of removing the smoke and the mote from your own eyes. Feel good about yourself and it won’t matter if others don’t understand you, believe you or believe in you. Travel with a light, but committed, faithful heart.
