Thinking Makes it So

Full Moon
April 9, 2009
19 Libra 53’

No matter what you may think or how long you have thought it, you are not just you. You are a seed, a promise. You are the conspiracy.
–Marilyn Ferguson.

Conspiracy comes from a root that means, “to breathe together.” We are all in this together. We are part of a complex, interdependent whole. It is important for us to understand in our own being that we are part of a healthy whole. With that personal understanding you are able to participate in the life of the collective in a cooperative way. Each of us is a uniquely shaped piece of the puzzle of life. Wherever you are, you fit, though you may not know it. When you no longer fit, you can do what comes natural. Push against the walls and enter into a whole new, unfamiliar world. Unfamiliar; there’s the rub. It’s a whole new learning curve, and what if you mess up?

Barriers are psychic. You are bound because you believe you are bound. You are free when you know you are free. Nothing stands between you and a better life except your conviction in the life that you have.

We are undergoing a paradigm shift where the idea of visualizing and affirming as a mental/emotional technology is becoming part of the way that we think and talk. You can talk yourself out of a bad time by choosing thoughts that accentuate the positive. Instead of letting something get you down, you put an optimistic spin on it.

Imagine yourself healed and whole in emotions, mind and body. Imagine the economy healed and whole. Vow to live in a healthy economy. You do not have to suffer economic sickness if you keep your mind free of it. Keep your eye on the prize.

If the way you think about money leaves you feeling twisted and worried and lacking, you are thinking about it the wrong way. Say healthy words. Think healthy thoughts. See healthy pictures. Experience healthy feelings. Proceed from that feeling.

Do not allow yourself to be susceptible to negative influences, including the put-downs and rejections. Napoleon Hill says that those who accumulate great riches always protect themselves against susceptibility to negative influences and that the poverty-stricken never do. If you allow yourself to speak of the economic climate in a way that restricts your movements and aspirations, then you are allowing yourself to be susceptible to negative influences.

Here is a great example of what can be accomplished with a different mindset. The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation, 2009 Career Conference newsletter reported that the Foundation’s giving increased during the economic downturn, with 5.4 million in grants and creative initiatives given in 2008, up from 3.6 million in 2004, the largest amount of giving ever. Mary Kay is quoted from her 1981 Seminar speech where she declares, “Belief in success is the one basic absolutely essential ingredient in successful people. Obviously, if you think victory, you will succeed. Belief is the thermostat that regulates what we accomplish in this life. A person is actually a product of her own thoughts; and when you think big, you achieve big things. Shakespeare said, ‘There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.’”

We are more being than body, though our habit of mind puts more stress on the temple than on the light that the temple houses. The light is belief.

An old woman who lived on my block with whom I never talked, but always greeted, said to me one day, as I passed by and remarked that she was apparently waiting for someone, “Yes, I am waiting for someone to take me to church. Do you believe?”

“Why yes I do,” I replied, stunned into wakefulness by the question. She did not ask me what I believed or who I believed in. She didn’t ask me my religious affiliation; She asked me if I believed. I didn’t need to know her religion or practice either. The fact that we were both believers made us part of the same Church. It meant to me that we had a faith that surmounted fear, and a standard upon which to live our lives. We had something greater than the experiences of our lives. We had the context in which we experienced them. We knew we were not alone, and that identified her and me as companions in the world. If she and I were together and we had to decide on the “right” thing, we could do it.

When the Sun is in Aries, we are likely to be more aware of our beingness, our energy, our vitality. And if we are afraid, if we have bridges to cross that we won’t attempt, and growth to claim that we reject, we might happen to become aware of the fact that we need faith. And you don’t get faith without facing your fears—you, individually alone in the dark, your handiwork your lamp illuminated by love.

Wow. Right in tune with the moment again! Thanks, Inez. I’m an Aries and find myself confronting big fears these days — what if I’m not a good teacher? what if I never stop attracting wounded, needy men, the ones who can’t love me well, into my life? — and I was having trouble remembering what I need. Faith is the word.

    Thank you.

P.S. Am admiring the full moon from a beach on the North Fork of Long Island with two Skidmore sisters. We all appreciated your perspective on this particular moon.

    Lisa,

Thank you for your comments. Keep the faith!
