New Moon

“I woke up this morning with my mind, stayed on Freedom.” This a line of a freedom song adapted from a gospel song that I learned as a teenager. In the sixties, we sang that and many other rousing songs that helped us lift ourselves above the acceptance of discrimination and exploitation.

I remember this as I straddle issues around apparent gaps and the collapse of Wall Street. My question, as I prepare this column is: What shall I tell the people? “I woke up this morning with my mind stayed on freedom,” started to play in my mind. I searched for the word that would replace freedom, and the word was making as in creating.

Stay your mind. Pick a point in the middle and above you, hook onto it and rise to it. Though your emotional pendulum may swing left and right as regards your personal financial affairs as well as the nation’s, pick a point above you and know that that point is a means to make a rich life.

Say with me now, I enjoy financial stability and completion. Nothing can harm me. I am not limited to what is in my purse, my pocket, or my bank account. Say as Bobby McFerrin sings, “The Lord is my shepherd, I have all I need.” The Sun and Moon kiss in the dark this month at 6 degrees of Libra and 33.’ The New Moon is a dark moon and these may seem like dark days, but don’t bother with that. Don’t fear. The darkest hour is just before the dawn. The New Moon is an opportunity to renew your mind and faith.

Breathe. Take in the air of spirit that enlivens you, and when you have breathed deeply, breathe deeper still. Stay your mind in the midst of this crisis. “Behold, I tear down only to build a grander structure.” Your job, if you choose to accept it, is to live from the Source.  How do you do that? Practice. Practice. Practice. Practice bridges instead of canyons. Practice peace instead of strife. Libra is the sign of balance. Step up and let the financial crisis flow past you. Don’t get in that stream and let it take you.

It all starts in your mind. Libra is an air sign. Libra’s symbol, the scales, is the only man-made symbol in the zodiac, which suggests that we are our ideas, and that the primary idea is harmony, justice, and truth. The primary thought is the middle way, looking out for each other’s greatest good.

Guard your thoughts. The sky didn’t fall. False structures fell. They won’t fall on your head unless you let them. Ask to be shown the way that you should go. You will see your yellow line of light, flowing in the middle way. Follow the golden road. Follow the golden way. Lead by the golden rule. Live by the golden means, “The lesser is to the greater as the greater is to the whole.” Your finances are your lesser, meaning that you, the greater, have dominion over them according to your relationship to the whole, your finances, you, and the Source. Learn of the Source in a real way. Turn to it now. Follow it by following your breath, deepening it when you become fearful so that it can stay in the center where you can hear the words, “This is the way, walk ye in it.”

“Making” refers to being able to put together whatever the needs of the day are. Making refers to creating your own life. Making refers to your ability to utilize the riches of the kingdom that as yours for the taking. This crisis is our opportunity to learn beyond Wall St., Limit Street and mean streaks. Keep your eye on the prize.
