Dark Night Dawn’s Early Light

Dark night of the soul was a brand-new term for me 45 years ago, but the minute I heard it, I knew it named my condition. Those words resonated deeply with me. The dark night of the soul is used to describes a crisis of faith or a difficult, painful period in one's life.  Life doesn't make sense anymore. There is no an ideal toward which to strive. No desire takes hold. Death softly tempts. The person in this state of mind may not experience full-blown suicide ideation, but may not sure how to live. What’s the use? The sufferer feels out of it and not sure if they want to be in it anymore. All is in vain.

The dark night of the soul is often the precursor to spiritual awakening, to rising to another level of living where one becomes aware that one has been sleeping. Perhaps as a nation, this is what we are on the cusp of.

To the extent that imagining the next presidency causes anyone pain and fear, consider that we are a part of a great, though perhaps subtle, awakening. This awakening may not translate into picket lines, calls, and letters in order to effect the behavior of someone or something outside of us. We each need to manage our own fear. If you are not afraid and I am not afraid, we become of one mind, but we cannot accomplish this for each other.

Let's stand up to our fears. Let us not think about, anticipate, and invite what we do not want. Nothing that we fear is anything but an idea at this point. Let us not give over our power to fear—that is acquiescing to the problem we perceive.

Think about, anticipate, and invite that which you want. All the power that ever was or will be is here now. That power lives in you. Mercury goes direct in Sagittarius tonight. Mercury is behind the scenes. Mentally we are recuperating and wound-licking. We swing between optimism and pessimism. Let go and let God. Do not despair or lose faith.

Think "We Shall Overcome" (Mars is opposite Pluto, but Mercury is sextile Pluto.). All the power that ever was or will be is here now. Only love conquers hate. Think about love and the value of love and freedom. Let us know together that we are free. That cannot be compromised, unless we are fooled into thinking it can be compromised.

Practicum

Be present. Feel the aliveness in your body. Know that you are all right at the moment. You can’t cope with or act in the future. You can only cope and act now.
