I, Citizen

The Seer by Deborah Singletary
The Seer by Deborah Singletary

New Moon | December 30, 2024 | 9 Capricorn 44’

I, citizen, look within. How am I a co-conspirator in the making of a world that is not to my liking or specification? The message of Capricorn is “I am responsible.” The square to Aries is the action of self-reflection. Are my personal choices wise? To what extent am I wise and creative? Am I a good pattern maker? Am I a good example? Do I or have I made my mark?

“The ultimate secret of life is the sure knowledge of death, for without it, man would not strive to leave his mark upon the earth.” – From the movie, Somewhere in Time.

The mark is a Capricorn attribution. Your imprint, your influence.

Does your thinking contribute to the problem, or the solution? What you think and say matters. You are a contributing thinker. This has never been truer than in the age of social media where anyone can air an opinion. However, sometimes people communicate irresponsibly and with vitriol. Be seen and heard if you want, however be aware that what you say matters. Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space and exists in many forms. (Saturn, ruler of Capricorn, is in Pisces. Saturn is involved in a T-square, challenging Mercury, mind and communication, and square Jupiter, beneficence and growth.)

On the other hand, some people will say anything and defy you to trust your own ears. Shall there be any accountability for that or shall we continue to be subject to noise, lies, and redirects? What will you do to filter out the noise and hear the truth that comes from within?

In 2020, the social planets that represent our beliefs, laws and government, Jupiter and Saturn, were both in Capricorn, sign of reality, truth, and actuality. Sometimes Capricorn represents walls, limitation, and intimidation. (Sometimes Saturn represents the walls that we follow along for support). Pluto and Mars were also in Capricorn and there was a lot of mudslinging urged on by the Internet. To me, Covid was the result of a collective poisoning of the ether with hatred—not just the hatred directed at us, but also the hatred we returned. “Two wrongs don’t make a right,” my mother would say. Mercury opposition Jupiter and Square Saturn recommends that we think and speak responsibly. Do not curse the darkness or the enemy. Use your speech to contribute healing for yourself and your community. Your community is the world.

This New Moon precedes the January 20th Inauguration of a man who provokes anger and fear. On Inauguration Day the Sun will have just entered Aquarius and will be conjunct the powerful Pluto, named for the God of the Underworld. What shall we have? Can the Age of Aquarius Dawn in the Darkness that Pluto represents? We don’t really know what Pluto in Aquarius will bring. For some archetypal clues I go to Tarot and Qabalah. I see Key 20, Judgement where the Archangel Gabriel blows his horn and a man, woman and child arise from coffins. It turns out that the dreaded judgement day, because the word is we will be punished with eternal darkness or eternal fire, might be better thought of as Resurrection Day. “Awake those who Sleep!

We are not waiting for Death to come so that resurrection can come. Humans are asleep, unconscious, largely conditioned and controlled, largely unenlightened. This is the sleep we wake up from now. Aquarius is represented by the Tarot key, The Star. She represents the revelation that comes after the storm and stress of awakening. Mars, God of War, represents the storm and stress. It is in Leo opposite Pluto in Aquarius. Mars is like the boy trying to best his father—personal power going up against omnipotent power. Many of us are angry about something, personal or social. Shall we be driven in the sense of kill or be killed? Or shall we be driven to rise?

Practicum

Stand guard at the doorway of your mind. Neither admit nor speak profane or bitter thoughts. Say something like, "Let the word of my mouth and the meditations of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight."-- Psalm 19:14. Breathe peacefully when you listen and before you speak to better insure balanced interchange.
