Saving Our Own Lives

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse | March 25, 2024 | 5 Libra 7’

The “other” is who we imagine them to be. Venus, the ruler of the “other,” is the planet of love and imagination. While Libra refers to those who are often the object of our affection, often our lovers become our enemies. Sometimes astrology refers to the 7th house, ruled by Libra, as the house of open enemies.

The Moon is in Libra, an air (mental) sign. This placement might give us ideas about how others should be (even as we imagine who they are.) We are in the phase where we need to be objective and conscious. This is represented by Libra being above the horizon in the natural zodiac. The more conscious you are, the better you are at creating harmony in relationships. You don’t throw stones. You offer the philosopher’s “stone of the wise.” Forgive (or overlook) others’ folly. Do not worsen the situation by your own reactive foolishness.

Libra is represented by the scales, symbol of balance and equanimity. Under the influence of Libra, we hope to relate with poise, wisdom and clarity.

At this eclipse, the Moon is in the same sign as the South Node and the South Node represents our go-to or our default. The problem with Libra as the South Node is that we are at risk of caring too much what others think. The Sun in Aries conjunct the North Node, requires us to be more individual and self-reliant. It reminds me of the description of the Virgin Goddess—“she who is most herself. She does what she does not to please another, even herself. She does what she does because it is true,” says Demetra George in Asteroid Goddesses.

We are asked individually to be responsible for the collective. We do not accomplish this by our mental constructs of wrong and right. We do this by responding to the feeling deep down in our soul. The tone of this chart is Pisces, the sign of spiritual love and tender emotions. In Pisces we feel the universal All.

Oskar Schindler's noon chart gives him a fourth quadrant emphasis and this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse has a fourth quadrant emphasis, with five planets in Pisces, and Pluto in Libra in the 10th. Schindler (Schindler's List) is credited with saving at least a thousand Jews, even though he was a Nazi. He said, “I hated the brutality, the sadism, and the insanity of Nazism. I just couldn't stand by and see people destroyed. I did what I could, what I had to do, what my conscience told me I must do. That's all there is to it. Really, nothing more.”

Probably none of us will be tasked so heavily at this time, but our hearts and our psyches may call upon us not to follow popular opinion—even our own, if our opinion justifies hatred for our enemies.

Mars, planet of war, is in Pisces. Our best actions will be those of loving consideration of others. As the song “We Are the World,” says, “There’s a choice we’re making. We’re saving our own lives.”

Seek understanding at a level deeper than intellect. In Pisces, we cannot always explain or even understand what we do because we are working from deeper levels.

Practicum

Where there is hatred, sow love.” Not sentimental love, but grace:

Neutralize
Give it a rest
Refrain from condemnation
Let it go

Do not let yourself contribute to the mental virus that destabilizes. Don’t throw nasty words. This eclipse occurs with all of us under the sea so to speak. Remember that the world is not outside, but within you. The outside thing is an illusion that helps you do your evolutionary homework to live with others you may not understand and change your world from within, from a threatening to a stable place. When you see truly, you will calm down and you will have the courage to be a healer.
